Frontier-based Exploration

Frontier-Based Exploration is a robotic exploration strategy that identifies and targets boundary regions between known and unknown environments—termed frontiers—as the primary criterion for guiding navigation, thereby differentiating it from other exploration methods by focusing on the expansion of spatial knowledge through the systematic exploitation of perceptual discontinuities.
