Abstract

The integration of games in formal or informal learning scenarios has been an active field of research at a theoretical, as well as a practical level, the last decades with numerous pilot and commercial applications. Today's kids are no longer referred to as "digital kids" but rather as "mobile kids" thus stressing the tremendous popularity of mobile devices in these ages. This paper presents an adaptive mobile casual game that can be used by pupils of the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd grade for practicing their skills in the multiplication table. The game incorporates an adaptation mechanism that records player performance (correct and wrong answers) and adapts next level's questions to match the player's learning needs. It is compatible with Android mobile devices and helps pupils excel their multiplication skills in a pleasant, self-paced and children friendly electronic environment.
