The teaching of history and social sciences in higher education faces significant challenges due to technological advances and social changes. This article discusses how educational innovation practices, such as the use of digital technologies and active methodologies, can transform teaching, making it more dynamic and effective. An exhaustive literature review was conducted based on scientific literature from recent years. The results highlight the positive impact of interactive platforms and multimedia tools on learning, increasing student motivation and participation. In addition, methodologies such as project-based learning and case studies have been shown to develop critical competencies and foster the connection between theory and practice. However, obstacles such as resistance to teacher change, lack of technological infrastructure and the need for continuous training were identified. The conclusions underline the importance of a comprehensive institutional approach that allows the sustainable implementation of these innovative strategies, transforming not only learning, but also preparing students to face the challenges of the 21st century with critical thinking and social commitment.
