The present study measures distinct components of volunteer motivation affecting volunteers’ intention to continue volunteering. Specifically, it develops a model that uses five factors of volunteer motivation to predict volunteer intention within structural equation modeling. The findings collected from volunteers within a local community show that the proposed model meets the criteria of validity and reliability in satisfactory model fits. The salient factors of altruistic value, ego enhancement, personal development, and community concern are found to have significant positive effects on volunteers’ intention; social adjustment is found to not be significant. The implications of findings and its relations to local event volunteerism are discussed.
