Target Identification

Target Identification is a systematic process in drug discovery and chemical genomics whereby the specific molecular entity (typically a protein, nucleic acid, or pathway component) that mediates a relevant biological phenotype or disease and can be modulated by a chemical agent is determined and characterized as the primary target for therapeutic or mechanistic intervention.
