Affective Reception is a construct within film reception studies that refers to the emotional and psychological responses elicited in audiences during the process of engaging with cinematic texts, distinguished from other reception phenomena by its focus on the immediate, embodied, and often pre-cognitive affective states rather than interpretive or cognitive appraisal.
