Abstract

The guidance problem with terminal angular constraint is addressed. The guidance goal in the problem is to null miss distance and to achieve a desired impact attitude angle, simultaneously. In order to fulfill the guidance goal, a new homing guidance law, a modified proportional navigation, is proposed. Its performance is analyzed by employing a Lyapunov-like function with the sliding mode control methodology. The efficiency of the proposed guidance law is shown by proving the optimality in the sense that it minimizes the integral of the square of the pursuer acceleration. To account for randomly maneuvering targets, the modified PN with target maneuver compensation is also proposed. Its performance is analyzed by a similar approach. We show that the guidance command is bounded if the target executes a constant acceleration.
