Abstract

An overview of the functional capabilities and operational performance presently obtained from acoustic charge transport (ACT) device technology is presented. A brief description of basic ACT device architecture and operation is given. Primary functional capabilities of automatic serial input sampling, parallel lateral charge injection, charge storage, and multi-tap non-destructive charge detection are described and experimentally demonstrated. The signal processing performance obtained from recent delay lines, transversal filters, and wideband P-N code correlators is summarized. The paper concludes with an assessment of potential applications for ACT technology.
