Diffraction grating ruling tool alignment by analysis of traced groove profile

Abstract

The principle employed is the analysis of trial groove profiles traced by the Talystep, with variations in ruling tool orientation and loading. Errors in setting, too small to be detected by optical microscopy, can cause serious deformation of the groove profiles. The results are supported by optical performance measurements.
