Abstract

Supervision is an extremely important component of the counselor education process, and “Sandtray Supervision” has been developed as a creative supervisory tool. In addition, a conceptual overview of sandtray therapy and the current research involving its use within the supervision process is provided. Bernard’s (1979) Discrimination Model is reviewed as an example of a supervisory framework that can be integrated with sandtray therapy in the supervision process. The implementation of Sandtray Supervision and a case example of this creative approach are discussed. Finally, experiences of utilizing this creative approach and implications for future research are reviewed.
