Score Comparability

Score comparability is a concept and research area in measurement theory and practice focused on the degree to which scores obtained from different assessment forms, administrations, or groups of test-takers can be interpreted on the same scale and convey equivalent meaning regarding the underlying construct. It investigates methodological approaches, such as equating and linking, to ensure that score differences primarily reflect true differences in the measured construct, thereby enabling valid inferences and fair comparisons across varying assessment conditions.
