Responsibility and Lethality for Unmanned Systems: Ethical Pre-mission Responsibility Advisement

Abstract

This paper provides an overview, rationale, design, and prototype
\nimplementation of a responsibility advisor for use in autonomous
\nsystems capable of lethal target engagement. The ramifications
\nsurrounding the potential use of operator overrides is also
\npresented. The results of this research have been integrated into
\nthe MissionLab mission specification and demonstrated on a
\nrelevant military scenario.
