Experimental data relating to the destruction of B. abortus (2308) in milk by heat are presented. It was observed that B. abortus (2308) was killed in 23 minutes at 142.7°F. and in 14 seconds at 161.6°F. when the preheating time was zero. A practical mathematical method for evaluating the lethal effects of the preheating, holding and cooling parts of the heating curve on the organism is discussed.
