Abstract

ABSTRACT The essential oil, from the flower heads of Spilanthes acmella was produced by steam distillation and examined by GC/MS and retention indices. Of the 20 compounds characterized, limonene (23.6%), β-caryophyllene (20.9%), (Z)-β-ocimene (14.0%), germacrene D (10.8%) and myrcene (9.5%) were found to be the major constituents of die oil.
