Abstract

This is the first edition of<i>Liver and Biliary Diseases</i>, a multiauthored text edited by Neil Kaplowitz, MD. As such, it joins a prestigious library of other textbooks in this rapidly evolving field. What is it, therefore, that sets this book apart from the others? Although<i>Liver and Biliary Diseases</i>is comprehensive, at 732 pages it is considerably more concise and readable than many of the other more exhaustive texts. It is primarily aimed at a general audience of physicians in training, internists, and gastroenterologists, but even hepatologists may find the many tables and graphics useful for quick reference.
