Abstract The essential oil of Cupressus sempervirens L. cones, prepared by steam distillation, was analysed by GC and GC‐MS. Forty‐nine compounds were identified, accounting for 98.8% of the oil. Its antimicrobial activity was tested against Staphylococeus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans .
