Priority Claims

Priority Claims is a procedural mechanism in patent prosecution whereby an applicant asserts the filing date of an earlier-filed patent application as the effective date for establishing novelty and non-obviousness in a subsequent application, thereby distinguishing it from ordinary filing date entitlement by relying on statutory or treaty-based rights to claim precedence.
