Continuing Application Priority

Continuing Application Priority is a patent law doctrine that permits a subsequently filed patent application to claim the effective filing date of an earlier-filed parent application when the later application discloses and supports a continuation or extension of the invention originally disclosed, thereby preserving priority rights for related subject matter not fully claimed in the parent.
