Polyketide Chain Assembly

Polyketide Chain Assembly is a biosynthetic process in which a polyketide synthase enzyme complex iteratively catalyzes the condensation of acyl-CoA building blocks into a linear polyketide chain through decarboxylative Claisen condensations, distinguished by its programmed selection, modification, and incorporation of extender units to determine chain length, oxidation state, and functional group diversity.
