Joint Variable Representation is a kinematic modeling construct within the Denavit-Hartenberg framework that specifies the degree-of-freedom parameter—either a prismatic joint's linear displacement or a revolute joint's angular displacement—required to describe the relative motion between consecutive rigid links in a robotic manipulator.
