Effect Compartment Modeling

Effect Compartment Modeling is a pharmacokinetic–pharmacodynamic modeling approach that represents the temporal delay between plasma drug concentrations and observed pharmacological response by introducing a hypothetical effect (biophase) compartment linked to the central compartment, in which effect-site concentrations equilibrate with plasma according to specified kinetics and serve as the driver of the concentration–effect relationship.
