Abstract

Cultured parental and hTERT-RPE cells express RPE-associated proteins and become stably melanized when density is arrested in the absence of serum. Moreover, hTERT-immortalized RPE cells retain the capacity to undergo terminal differentiation in vitro, even after long-term culture.
