Abstract

In this paper the authors investigate the factors that impact employees' willingness to participate in continuous improvement projects. They surveyed 226 professionals employed by a large healthcare organization in the northeastern United States. Results indicate that tenure, prior experiences, and the employee's perception of an organization's approach to continuous improvement are the main drivers in predicting willingness to participate in continuous improvement projects. Consistent with continuity theory, the authors do not find any differences based on age.
