This paper studies the distributed localization problem of large scale wireless sensor networks with MDS-MAP method. Under the MDS-MAP framework, the original merging condition is firstly analyzed and generalized to several relaxed conditions, then an improved merging strategy is designed by introducing a novel MDS approach presented in [1]. Due to the improved merging strategy can perform well for some more general conditions, the proposed distributed MDS-MAP localization algorithm possesses the advanced properties of lower merging demand, higher accuracy and robustness. The effectiveness and these advanced properties of the proposed algorithm are illustrated through several simulation examples.
