Rapid confirmation of the presence of aflatoxins B-1 and G-1 in foods is provided by reaction with trifluoroacetic acid at the origin of a thin layer chromatographic plate. The procedure has been used successfully with various nuts, grains, coffee and cocoa beans, and other foods.
