The short-term impact of a conditional cash subsidy on child health and nutrition in Colombia

Abstract

This brief summarizes the results of a gender impact evaluation study, entitled The short-term impact of a conditional cash subsidy on child health and nutrition in Colombia, conducted during the time period 2001 to November 2003 in Colombia. The study observed that the program significantly improved the nutritional status and morbidity of young children. In particular it increased their consumption of protein and vegetables. It also significantly increased attendance at growth-monitoring visits.
