The reflection and transmission properties of thick plane layers of fog, which is a highly anisotropically scattering medium, are investigated. First, the function R (?, ?; ?0, ?0) describing the law of reflection for semi-infinite plane layer is determined. A table based upon the scattering function of Spencer is presented. With the help of this function, the angular distribution of the emerging light in the case of the Milne problem, and the extrapolation length, are computed. Finally, the angular distributions of the light reflected and transmitted by a thick plane layer of fog are expressed in terms of the function R and of the angular distribution for the Milne problem.
