Abstract

A description is given of an improved method for monitoring water under tension. The pressure changes in a liquid are monitored from the unwiding of a glass capillary helix (Bourdon tube principle) within which the liquid is stretched (Berthelot tube principle). The double metastable region and the locus of the temperature of maximum density are investigated.
