The use of Upases for syntheses of optically active compoundshas been well-documented1} and added new methods for asymmetric synthesis.^The enzyme has been widely used for transformations of alcohols, thiols,3) acids, esters and anhydrides4) as general substrates so far. It is of interest to see what other kinds of substrates which are unusual for Upases can be used in the enzymatic reactions. Thus, this study is concerned with lipase-catalyzed stereospecific acylation of hydroperoxide in an organic solvent.
