This paper describes an operational-psychological concept of the design of the operator's performance that derives from the AT. This concept can be used to describe precision, reliability and strategies of human performance. Furthermore, it can be applied at the earlier stages of design when experimental procedures are not available. This concept provides analytic description of activity and its comparison with the equipment configuration. Application of the operational-psychological concept of design in ergonomics is demonstrated in the study of navigation-tactical tasks in aviation. Such tasks are common for operators who control moving objects in outer space, moving ships in the ocean, etc. Keywords: Systemic approachSub-system of activityAlgorithmTensionTemporal parametersPrecision of performance
