Abstract

Eighty-four lactating Holstein cows fed corn silage as the only forage were used in three experiments to study effects of feeding concentrates containing urea on milk yield and composition, dry matter intake, and body weight changes. The per cent of urea in the concentrates ranged from 0 to 3% and furnished from 0 to 35% of the total ration nitrogen. Effects of frequency of feeding and mineral supplementation of concentrates containing urea were investigated.
