Utilization of Urea and Growth of Heifer Calves with Corn Molasses or Cane Molasses as the Only Readily Available Carbohydrate in the Ration

Abstract

In previously published studies on the utilization of urea by the ruminant, we presented data showing the need for a readily fermentable carbohydrate (4) in the ration, and for a low level of dietary protein (8), in order to have effective transformation of the urea nitrogen into protein.
