Texas Christian University recently embarked on a project to improve the university by recognizing and rewarding “excellence” in all aspects of administrator and faculty behavior and to reduce the arbitrariness of the decision-making processes associated with promotions, tenure, and raises by making the goals and reward structure more explicit. Instruments were developed for teacher evaluation, colleague evaluation (faculty), administrator evaluation, and professional staff evaluation. This paper summarizes the results of the development of the teacher evaluation and administrator evaluation questionnaires.
