Mobile devices have been widely used with high flexibility for wireless networks have been deployed almost everywhere. Smartphone devices are typical mobile devices and have been important personal tools for the rich functions including communication, mobile office, entertainment, online services and so on. Mobile applications are necessary for smartphone devices. How to teach the students to develop such applications is an emerging problem for universities. In this paper, we propose novel curriculum architecture for mobile application development courses. There are several different embedded operating systems as the basic software platforms for mobile application development. In our design, the basic knowledge of mobile computing and the programming skills on different software platforms are organized as flexible curriculum architecture. This architecture has covered several different courses to achieve the goal. Our investigation shows that such curriculum architecture helps us to obtain improved teaching effect.
