Translation Equivalence

Translation Equivalence is a theoretical relation in translation studies that holds between a source-language text (or segment) and a target-language text (or segment) insofar as, in a given communicative and socio-cultural context, the latter can be empirically described as occupying a comparable position and performing a comparable meaning-making and functional role within the target system to that of the former within the source system.
