Participatory development is a research field, academic concept, and methodological approach centered on the active and meaningful involvement of diverse stakeholders, especially the intended beneficiaries, in the design, implementation, and evaluation of development initiatives. This approach investigates the dynamics of power, knowledge, and collective action in development processes, characterized by efforts to enhance local ownership, utilize indigenous knowledge, and build capacity with the goal of achieving more effective, equitable, and sustainable development outcomes.
