Ordinal Analysis is a formal method in proof theory that assigns ordinal numbers to theories in order to measure their consistency strength and computational power, thereby enabling the comparison of deductive systems through the ordinal-theoretic characterization of their provably recursive functions and proof-theoretic ordinals.
