Neonatal Immunity

Neonatal Immunity is the stage-specific state and functioning of the immune system during the early postnatal period, distinguished by a developing and tolerance-biased configuration of innate and adaptive responses with limited immunological memory and altered effector functions that both protect and predispose the neonate to infection during the transition from the sterile intrauterine environment to a microbe-rich external world.
