Latex Biosynthesis

Latex Biosynthesis is the biochemical process by which specialized plant cells synthesize and accumulate natural rubber (cis-1,4-polyisoprene) through the mevalonate or methylerythritol phosphate pathway, distinguishing it from other secondary metabolite production processes by its specific enzymatic machinery and compartmentalized cellular sites of operation.
