Flexibility-responsiveness Tradeoff

Flexibility-Responsiveness Tradeoff is a strategic construct in operations and supply chain management whereby the capacity to adapt cost-effectively to uncertain or changing conditions (flexibility) is inherently constrained by the speed and precision with which an organization can react to external demands (responsiveness), thus creating a fundamental tension between adaptive range and reaction efficiency.
