Enthalpy-entropy Compensation
Enthalpy-Entropy Compensation is a thermodynamic phenomenon in which changes in enthalpy and entropy during a physical or chemical process exhibit a linear compensatory relationship, such that the resulting change in free energy is smaller than expected from the enthalpy change alone, commonly observed in biomolecular folding, alloy formation, and mixing processes.
