Blue Humanities

Blue Humanities is a transdisciplinary subfield of ecocriticism and the environmental humanities that examines the cultural, historical, aesthetic, ethical, and political dimensions of human relations with oceans and other aquatic environments, foregrounding water as a dynamic material and symbolic medium and integrating scientific understandings of marine and limnological systems to challenge predominantly terrestrial and anthropocentric modes of thought.
