Alternative Reference Approach

Alternative Reference Approach is a methodological framework within conflict of laws jurisprudence that, under the doctrine of renvoi, substitutes the foreign court's reference to its own substantive law in place of the forum court's reference, thereby recognizing the autonomy of the foreign legal system's choice-of-law rules when they point back to the forum or another jurisdiction.
