Acute ischemic stroke and hypothyroidism.

Abstract

Hypothyroidism is common in patients with AIS and TIA. Elevated homocysteine levels associated with hypothyroidism suggest that hypothyroidism may represent a modifiable stroke risk factor. Prospective studies are needed to verify this association.
