Hybrid synthesis of polyhydroxybutyrate bioplastics from carbon dioxide

Abstract

We report a hybrid chem-biological system, coupling photovoltaic hydrogen production, chemical CO 2 hydrogenation, an artificial carbon conversion pathway and the natural PHB synthesis pathway, which drove a completely closed-loop economy for PHB production.
