Raman scattering from the optical modes of the metals Be and Au${\mathrm{Al}}_{2}$ has been observed. The measurements were carried out using argon-ion laser excitation. One Raman line was observed for each of these metals. A frequency of 455 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ was obtained for Be and 266 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ for Au${\mathrm{Al}}_{2}$. The result for Be is compared with neutron scattering data.
