The substrate specificity of L-glutamic acid dehydrogenase and the structural requirements for competitive inhibitors have been studied by a number of investigators (l-6).We have examined the abilities of three new tetrazole analogues of glutamic acid to act as substrates or inhibitors of this enzyme, or both. Two of these compounds show substrate activity, and all three function as competitive inhibitors in varying degrees.
