Abstract

In this digital era, companies are struggling to sustain their ways of streaming value. The risk of disruption, the bloody and fierce competition from rivals, the change in customers behaviors are few of many facts that push companies to change their ways of doing business. Digital business models come as a new frame for firms to create and capture a new kind of value, adapted to this era. This paper is an attempt to broaden the literature review on this subject. We started by defining the concept of business models, its origin and the particularities behind digital ones. We used the systematic literature review approach in order to identify, select, and extract valuable information about the elements that shape the digital business models. Our analysis showed that customer experience, data, platforms, competition, strategy, content and innovation are the most important drivers and components of these emerging business models. Two future research directions were proposed in order to broaden and enrich this study.
