Official negotiation between representatives of states has a history that dates back to Antiquity. In modern times, diplomacy has expanded to include informal interactions between a broader cast of characters. Tourists, whether they like it or not, are inevitably representatives of their states. This round table discussion draws together six scholars to consider the various relationships between tourism and diplomacy.
