The clinical specificity and sensitivity of <i>N</i>-glycan analysis was much improved with this method. Additional CDGs can be diagnosed that would be missed by carbohydrate-deficient transferrin analysis. The assay provides novel biomarkers with diagnostic and potentially therapeutic significance.
